January 2011 VAT Rise: September 7, 2010

As most of you will be aware, the government recently announced that the standard rate of VAT charged on goods will raise to a new higher level from 17.5% to 20%.

All our published prices include VAT at the current rate of 17.5% and this rate is chargeable on any vehicle that can be collected or delivered prior to December 31st 2010.

The rate of VAT on a vehicle is payable at point of invoice and not point of order so any new car ordered would have to be physically built and be in a position where it can be supplied for the VAT to be applicable at the current rate. This is irrespective of when the goods were initially ordered.

It is in no parties interests at all for any vehicle to be invoiced at 20% VAT rate, we as a business would have to pay the 2.5% higher rate of VAT on any profit made on any car invoiced at this amount, as too would the supplying franchised dealerships and the manufacturers.

We will do all we can and advise any customer accordingly in regards this.

Please bear this in mind when enquiring about a new car as factory lead times are getting longer and longer.

April price and tax rises: April 1, 2010

You may or may not have heard on the news about the governments introduction of a so called "showroom tax". This replaces the initail road tax payable on any new car registered on or after 1st April 2010, irrespective of when the car was ordered.

 In addition, April sees the start of the second quarter of the calendar year and some manufacturers have implemented yet more price increases.

We are currently in the process of updating our website and prices, as the price published are based on cars registered before April 1st 2010.
